What is Brachytherapy

Brachytherapy is a cancer treatment using high radiation dose to the tumor, without irradiating the adjacent tissues. Radioactive source is placed in the tumor or against it, giving a high radiation dose to the cancer while reducing the radiation and the toxicity to the normal tissues.

Some tumors are treated in their early phase and can be cured by brachytherapy: breast, prostate, non-melanoma skin tumors, melanoma of the eye, oral tumors, cervix and uterine cancers, penis and anal tumors.....

In the advanced stage, brachytherapy is used as a palliative treatment (lung, liver, esophagus, rectum...)

Brachytherapy is also indicated for the treatment of cheloid scars, achieving very good cosmetic results.

At brachycenter, we use High-Dose Rate (HDR) Brachytherapy, the most advanced technique in brachytherapy. Tubes are placed inside the tumor and the radiation dose is delivered in a very short time.

With brachytherapy, treatments usually administered in 4 to 6 weeks with the external radiation are delivered in one to five days on an outpatient basis.

Brachytherapy is safe, fast and very effective treatment, allowing early return to normal life and quick treatment for the travellers.

Brachy center provides brachytherapy for many types of cancer. Some of the tumors, the brachy center experts treat with brachytherapy are:
